Jeff is the 2026 Mary Wing-Ming Lee Senior Human Rights Research Fellow for the Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect at the University of Queensland. Previously, he served as the Deputy Director in the Office of Security and Human Rights and as the Senior Advisor on Atrocity Prevention for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor at the United States Department of State. He is a retired Naval Officer, retiring as a Commander in 2020. He advocates publicly on the value of atrocity prevention as well as working with students entering the human rights and atrocity prevention enterprise

Wes is a former Atrocity Prevention Advisor with the U.S. State Department and current co-founder and host of Former Feds & Friends. He previously worked on atrocity prevention, international human rights law, and international criminal law and transitional justice at the Prevention & Protection Working Group, the American Society of International Law, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He also co-founded a space ethics and policy think tank.

Anna is a former Conflict Stabilization Advisor with the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations. Her work focused on preventing, mitigating, and responding to instability—particularly within the broader context of Great Power competition in the Indo-Pacific. Before entering government service, Anna worked as a broadcast reporter covering the local politics beat for NPR’s Albuquerque affiliate. She later served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia in the late 2010s. Anna holds an M.A. in Conflict Transformation from the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame (2022). She earned her B.A. in Political Science, graduating summa cum laude from the University of New Mexico, with minors in Spanish and Journalism.

Rosie is a writer, researcher, and strategic communications professional based in Washington, D.C. In previous roles, she’s helped foreign policy advocacy organizations leverage storytelling to maximize their impact; researched how the United States can strengthen its security accountability policies and practices at home and abroad; and campaigned for the release of imprisoned human rights defenders around the world. In her current role, Rosie is mobilizing small business owners from across the United States to defend democracy.

Rosie graduated with her MA from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, where she studied Human Security and International Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. You can find her on LinkedIn and Bluesky.

Rowan is former Foreign Assistance Coordinator for Papua New Guinea with the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations. Rowan currently serves in the State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, and has experience working on conflict prevention in USAID's Conflict Prevention and Stabilization Bureau and in the Political/Economics Office at the U.S. Embassy to Libya in Tunis, Tunisia. Rowan is an alumni of St. Lawrence University and will begin Georgetown University's Masters of Security Studies Program in August 2026.
